This week, Take 5 Tuesday will tell you a little more about Holly Hutchinson, our pet sitting scheduler and manager. Every Tuesday, a different staff member will answer 5 questions about themselves and their life. So sit down, take 5, and learn about the folks caring for your furry family members.
- What is your favorite thing about living in Charleston?
Having moved to the Charleston area late last summer from Cleveland, Ohio, I can definitely say that the weather is an amazing bonus! I’ve always been a porch sitter, and am enjoying a much longer porch-sitting season! Plus, I get to tease my brothers when their weather is snowy with wind chills below zero!
- What do you like best about working for Dog Tired?
There is so much to love! I have met some of the most wonderful people, from my co-workers to our clients (animals and humans). This is a new career move for me, and I am still making mistakes, but I have found everyone to be supportive and patient. And, thank goodness Hannah isn’t bowing out of the picture completely yet! She’s my safety net for scheduling snafus!
- Do you have pets of your own?
I do! Currently, I have two dogs and two cats. I have a German shepherd/lab mix named Ruby who is 9 years old and a Samoyed/chow mix named Sami, who is almost 14. They are big girls and I love them like crazy! My male cat, Panja and my little female, Maya, get along great with both dogs and all four sleep in our room at night. It’s so funny when my husband and I head back to our bedroom – I almost feel like the pied piper of the Hutchinson abode with four animals trailing along behind me.
- Three little known facts about Holly:
- I can play the cello – although I don’t get it out as often as I’d like
- I have been to Hawaii twice and loved hiking around Volcano National Park
- My husband and I used to sky-dive.
- What is one thing you would like to learn how to do?
I would like to learn how to fly a plane, I think. I actually love to fly, even though there are so many rules and regulations now. Every take-off, and every landing just makes me happy.
